8th National Handloom Day

The Ministry of Textiles can host the eighth National loom Day on August 7, in honour of the handloom business and its weavers.
“Handloom may be a image of our wonderful cultural heritage and a very important supply of livelihood… the Ministry of Textiles will organise the 8th National loom Day on seventh August 2022,” aforementioned minister of state for textiles Darshana Jardosh.

during a letter to Union minister of knowledge and broadcasting Anurag Thakur, Jardosh urged ministries to market the national celebration. She said the “support and encouragement can go a protracted manner in making certain livelihoods and instilling pride amongst our weavers.”
Earlier on Monday, operating president of the Telangana Rashtra Samiti KT Rama Rao declared a first-of-its-kind life assurance theme for loom and loom weavers in Telangana. Taking to Twitter, he said, “Happy to share that #Telangana Govt can launch a replacement life insurance scheme for all #Handloom & #Powerloom weavers on #NationalHandloomDay; August 7th.”
Last year’s celebration came about at Dilli Haat, capital of India with a national-level handloom exhibition organized by the textile ministry. Union minister for finance Nirmala Sitharaman participated in celebrations in Andhra Pradesh’s Ponduru village and ordered the inspiration stone for the textile Artisans cluster Workshed.
